1. Personal Background & Identity
What is your full name or any nickname you prefer to be known by?
My full name is Julian Luis Claudi. Most people simply call me “Claudi”, which im used to know. It’s a nickname I like.
Where did you grow up, and how has your hometown shaped who you are?
I grew up near Stuttgart and tried many different sport in my youth. Before ending up with Mountainbiking I played football and rode bmx for several years. During the summer of 2009 a 4cross track was built only a few minutes from my house. That’s where my mtb journey started. Later I moved to a close by downhill track and several years of dh racing later in 2017 in switched to enduro riding.
Is there a personal mantra or philosophy you live by?
Fun is key.
What would you say is the single most important event or moment in your life that shaped who you are today?
If I had to choose one, it would be my first day at my local bike park. That was the moment I shifted away from football and discovered mountain biking. Looking back, that decision had a huge impact on my life.
2. Riding Preferences
How would you describe your riding style in three words?
lively, energetic and versatile
Do you have a favourite trail or terrain? What makes it special to you?
Reschenpass. I learned a lot there, built my technique and prepared for many seasons and races there whilst also achieving some of my biggest results in the region.
When did you first realize that mountain biking was more than just a hobby for you?
I never needed a reason to ride. I didn't question whether I should ride, I just wanted to. It felt completely natural, like something my body and mind were drawn to. I look forward to every ride, not because I had a goal or an explanation, but simply because being on the bike made me feel present, alive, and like myself.
Do you have a pre-ride or post-ride ritual that’s important to you?
Before I ride, I warm up my eyes by focusing on different distances, looking far away, then close, and shifting my focus. It helps me on the trail, especially because my eyesight isn't the best.
What do you love most about the MTB culture and community?
The shared experience. You can support each other, challenge each other, learn together, and sometimes fail together. Even though mountain biking is an individual sport, it works incredibly well as a group activity. Every ride is different, and the people you share it with make it even more memorable. No matter where you are in the world, there's an instant connection through the sport, and that's something I really value.
